First pitch is at 7:10 & we encourage you to join us for the pre-party at the NEW Blake St. Tavern starting at 5:45.  Blake Street’s new location is even better than before!  They are now one block close to Coors Field at 23^rd & Blake.  There will be food & drink specials before the game.

Our seats are in the lower outfield box and we were able to score a deal on the ticket price. The face value is $38, but as a Young Alum we are offering them to you at $25. We have only a limited number of these discounted seats so reserve your tickets ASAP.

Blake Street or Will Call?

Join us for a great opportunity to hang out with fellow young alumni and say that you have climbed one of the great Colorado 14’ers.  While there is nothing technical about this hike, you do need to be in reasonable shape to top this mountain.  It will be a long day, but once you make it to the top – it is SO rewarding!  The hike is 10.5 miles round trip and ascends 4,500 vertical feet.  Here’s a detailed description of the hike: http://www.14ers.com/routemain.php?route=miss1&peak=Missouri+Mountain.

The day will begin in one of two ways:  either camping Friday night near the trail or meeting at the Woolly Mammoth park–N–ride (NW corner of I-70 & Morrison exit) on Saturday morning.

For those camping, we will meet the night before at the Wooly Mammoth park-N-ride around 5:30-6 PM and set up camp near the trailhead and start on the trail with the others at 6:30 am.

For those coming up Saturday morning, please arrive by 3:45 am as we will leave sharply at 4:00 am in order to arrive to the Trail Head by 6:00 am.  After getting set up will we start off up the trail at around 6:30 am.

The hike should take approximately 8-10 hours roundtrip (with breaks) getting us back to our cars between 2:30 – 4:30 pm and back down to the park-N-ride by 4:30 – 6:30pm.  Hiking times are approximate and will depend upon the general pace of the group.

Why so early? Summer afternoons in Colorado have a high probability of thunder storms and they happen even more frequently up in the mountains.  You do not want to be near the top of the mountain much after 12:00 – 1:00pm because the chances of weather moving in quickly are very high.

What is the driving situation? Whether you are camping or not, we will all be meeting at the Woolly Mammoth park – N – ride (NW corner of I-70 & Morrison) either the night before or day of, and then car pooling from there.  If you are coming with a group you certainly can ride together.  It will take roughly 2 hours to drive to the trail head and a compact 2WD car can easily make it.  If you end up carpooling, be cool and offer the drive a little gas money.

How will I know where to meet? We will be in an uncrowded spot in the Woolly Mammoth and have a CU flag out.

This Sunday the Young Alums are hosting an afternoon of fun in the sun in Wash Park. We’ll have multiple volleyball nets, cornhole sets, ladder golf, beersbie… you name it. DJ Bobby will bring out the sound system to get the party rockin. Feel free to BOYB (but no glass bottles) and come kick it for an awesome afternoon as we get at it Wash Park style.

Washington Park is located in South Denver, just north of South High School. If you haven’t been to Wash Park before come check it out – it is quite the scene! We will be on the East side of the park by the gazebo, approximately at Franklin & Kentucky. Just look for all the CU flags. No RSVP needed – just come out & enjoy the good times.

Join the CU Young Alums at Film on the Rocks for Lost Boys (possibly the best campy vampire flick ever made) on Tuesday, August 3rd! The opening band is Snake Rattle Rattle Snake. We will be tailgating in the upper north parking lot at Red Rocks beginning at 5:30pm, just look for the CU Flags or banners. The band starts playing at 6:30 and the film starts at dusk. Tickets are $10 each and can be picked up at the tailgate party.

About The Lost Boys:
When newly-divorced Lucy moves her sons to her father’s house in Santa Clara, California — “the murder capital of the world” — her teenage son, Michael, quickly falls in with the town’s bad kids: a bike-riding, Jim Morrison-worshipping gang of blood-sucking vampires. The CU Young Alums summer happy hour returns Wednesday, July 21st.  We will be at the new Blake Street Tavern at 23rd and Blake in Denver from 4:00 – 6:00.  Stop by and check out their new set up which includes a huge patio with great mountain views.  Happy hour specials are:  $2 Rolling Rock, $2 wines & wells, $3 domestic drafts & $4 craft beer drafts.  On top of that, Odell’s Brewing Co. will be there offering free samples of their beers.

Enjoy an evening of food and friends in historic lower downtown Denver (LoDo). While strolling through the neighborhood you’ll enjoy small bites and sips from the area’s restaurants. At each stop along the walking tour, participants will enjoy a variety of unique cuisines including select wines and drink specials, as well as hand crafted desserts. LoDo Bites will take place on Tuesday, June 29 from 5 to 9 p.m.

It’s that time of year again! Time for sunsets in the foothills, music and classic flicks with your fellow CU young alums! As anyone who attended Office Space or Top Gun last year can attest, Film on the Rocks events are a blast! We’re kicking things off on June 30th Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

We’ll be tailgating in the upper north parking lot at Red Rocks beginning at 5:30pm. Just look for our Black and Gold CU flags on display. The bands will begin at 6:30 and film starts at dusk. Tickets are $10 each and can be picked up at the tailgate party. Our Snuggie Pub Crawl was so successful that it’s time let loose on the streets of Lodo once again! What’s entailed in a Whiteboard Pub Crawl? Well, for starters grab a cheap plain white shirt that you are ok with getting ‘altered’. Second, grab your favorite colored Sharpie markers. Then come to Fado’s and see what happens as the night unfolds. Is it a bit silly? Of course it is, but that’s when we have the most fun.

There will be drink specials throughout the night for everyone participating. Fado’s is locked down as our starting point from 8:00 – 9:00 and we’ll have the full itinerary along with drink specials post next week. 5280 Fight Club takes on Charm City Roller Girls out of Baltimore/DC. If the Roller Derby wasn’t enough to entice you, we have a Party Bus with FREE BEER. $30 for this event includes admission to the Derby, round trip Party bus with free beer and after party at Skylark Lounge starting between 9:30-10pm (140 S. Broadway). Please arrive at Skylark Lounge by 5pm, bus leaves at 5:30 with or without you! The RollerGirls colors are Black and Red so wear your Blackout gear or some black and red. Once we figure out what to cheer for, we’ll definitely make our presence known.
