Event Description:
On August 1st, Habitat for Humanity of Colorado and Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity will host a group of 10 CU Young Alums to help construct a new home for a hard working family just outside of Evergreen. This is a great opportunity to help a low-income family in Colorado realize their dream of homeownership. You must bring a signed Liability Waiver with you, which will be made available to you after you register.

In conjunction with the volunteer construction day in Evergreen, if the CU Young Alumni Association collectively donates at least $1,000 dollars, you will be recognized for your commitment to help Colorado’s low-income families with a Yellow Brick sponsorship. If the CU Young Alumni donate $50,000 collectively, you will be recognized as a Knowledge sponsor, receiving the recognition of the Yellow Brick level, as well as being recognized in our annual report.
Habitat for Humanity does not give away homes. Families must invest 250-500 hours of “sweat equity” constructing their own home and have a zero-interest 30 year mortgage.
Monthly payments are capped at 30% of the families income.
The median family of four in the Evergreen area makes $82,500 a year, while a typical Habitat family of four in the same area makes between $16,500-$41,250 a year. Habitat families receive homeowner education prior to moving in, and as a result, Habitat has a less than 2% foreclosure rate nationwide.
