CU Young Alums A-Basin Beach Day

April 26, 2009
10:00 amto4:00 pm

When: Sunday, April 26th from 10:00am – 4:00pm
Where: ‘On the Beach’ of the Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort
Cost: Free BBQ! Lift tickets you are on your own.
Who to contact: Dan Palm @ cugolf4@yahoo.com or 303-895-5564

Details: We will have several spaces reserved on the famed beach (front row of the parking lot, right up against the mountain) of the A-Basin ski resort. We’ll have our CU tent up and CU flags flying so we will be easy to spot. We’ll be grilling out burgers, brats & hot dogs all day long. Soft drinks & water will be provided but this is a Beach Day so if you’d like please feel free to BYOB. Now grab your skis / board and bring a friend as it’s sure to be a great day on the beach.

Never been to the beach before? We’ll it’s much more of a scene than anything else. There’s lots of grills, lots of music and lots of people celebrating the spring skiing. People are dressed in everything from ski gear to Hawaiian shirts. You can come to ski, you can come to party, or do what most do and come for a little of both. The weather this time of year is typically in the 40s – 50s at the resort, which at 10,000ft can make you feel like you’re really on the beach.

Carpool Option: While you’re certainly welcome to drive up on your own, if you’d like to meet up before the resort, we will be organizing a carpool / caravan from the I-70 & Morrison exit at the Woolley Mammoth park-and-ride. The carpool will be leaving the park-n-ride promptly at 9:00am. Directions to the Woolley Mammoth lot are as follows: The Woolley Mammoth lot is located on the NW corner of I-70 & Morrison. If coming from West bound on I-70, take the Morrison exit and head North. You will then take a left at the first light. The road winds up the hill and veers to the left. The parking lot entrance will be on the left hand side. There will be a car a with a CU flag displayed right when you pull in. From there we’ll pair up and head up to the resort. If you would like to take advantage of the carpool option please contact Dan Palm (contact info above) so we’ll know to look out for you.

Hope to CU there!

CU Young Alums Masters Pub Crawl

April 11, 2009
12:00 pmto5:00 pm

What: The name of the game is to have a great time bar hopping on the Pearl St. Mall wearing the most ridiculous golf outfit you can put together. We will be ‘playing the back 9’ of the Pearl St. Mall, crawling from 9 different bars. There will be some structure to the outing with certain rules and an itinerary, but the theme of the day is to have the most fun possible, not to have a drinking contest.
When: Saturday, April 11th from Noon – 5:00ish
Where: Beginning at the Lazy Dog Tavern on 14th & Pearl and then meandering the course of the Pearl St. Mall.
Who: Yourself and any of your friends who are up for an outstanding afternoon (capped at 50)
Cost: Free to participate then you pay for your own drinks.
How to sign up: Contact Dan Palm at cugolf4@yahoo.com or 303-895-5564 to reserve your spot. This event will be capped at 50 so RSVP early to ensure your spot.

Do’s and Don’ts:

Do find the best golf outfit you can find. Guys: You can go classic with the collared shirt and khakis, Payne Stewart style with knickers, argyle is always good, old school with a tie and vest, be creative. Ladies: Own a skort? Break it out. Be the Pink Panther like Paula Creamer. All Nike like Michelle Wie. Or perhaps super preppy country club style. These are just suggestion but make it your own and have fun with it. We will be awarding prizes for the best dressed male & female golfer.

Don’t bring a golf club, seriously. May seem funny and the perfect accessory but you’re just going to end up getting yourself in trouble. Admit it.

Do arrange a safe ride home. The Young Alums are not promoting binge drinking but the chance you could be over the limit after 5 hours of pub crawling is not unreasonable. Whether it’s a cab, the bus, your feet, or a sober friend make sure you do not drive drunk. We will not be providing transportation home.

Don’t think you have to have 9 drinks to participate. We will go over the rules at the Lazy Dog starting at noon but this is not structured to see who can drink the most.

Do contact Dan with any questions and to reserve your spot. Again, we will be capping the event at 50: cugolf4@yahoo.com or 303-895-5564

Hope to CU there!
